The 12th Symposium of the International Coronelli Society for the Study of
Globes will take place from September 29 to October 1, 2011 in cooperation with
the Ernst-Haeckel Haus, the Institut for the History of Science, Medicine and
Technology at the Friedrich Schiller University, Jena (Germany).
CALL FOR PAPERS:
Themes: all aspects of the study of globes, especially the history of globes,
globes in their historical and socio-cultural context, globe makers, especially
Erhard Weigel and the globes made by Geographisches Institut Weimar, globe
related instruments such as armillary spheres, planetaria and telluria.
Languages: German and English (no interpreters available)
Time allowed for papers: 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes discussion
Technical Equipment: Power Point Presentation
Paper Proposals must be submitted in English or German (max. 250 words) to the
Society’s office by March 31, 2011. The Programme Committee will make the paper
selection and inform the applicants by April 30, 2011.

Evening: Dinner at the traditional and stylish
restaurant
Zur Noll in Jena
1 October: Weimar tour
Forenoon: Visit to the Herzogin Amalia Bibliothek
and the exhibition The World from Weimar – the History
of the Geograhical Institute at the City Museum
Afternoon: as preferred or departure
REGISTRATION FEE: 100 €
(includes refreshments and coffee during the breaks, the Symposium Dinner at
the traditional and stylish restaurant Zur Noll in Jena, the trip to Weimar,
two guided tours in Weimar, and copies of the proceedings of the symposium, to
be published in: Globe Studies. The Journal of the International Coronelli
Society 2013)
CHARGE FOR ACCOMPANYING PERSONS: 60 €
